Over 1,200 local, weekly racing venues exist in the United States--dirt, asphalt, or concrete. At these locations, local or regional racers gather every Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday to make a run at the local championship or to make their mark at the race track. Family, friends and fans gather at these speedways and enjoy the smell of fuel and rubber, and they return week after week throughout race season to compete or watch the excitement of stock, sprint, late model, modified or other kinds of racing. |

Can effective and meaningful ministry take place at these local, weekly speedway events? No doubt, it can, and does. At the local raceways, relationships are strong. Ministry to these competitors, fans and speedway employees is very meaningful as chaplains and raceway ministry volunteers get to know them, share the Lord with them, and spend time with them in fellowship and in prayer. |
